Because of our generous Gayton families and sponsors, our students already enjoy hands-on learning through programs like Young Scientists and Fit4Kids. Now, we have the opportunity to add some enhancements to the ways our kids can play!

This year, recess has been extended to 40 minutes, and we want to provide dynamic ways for our students to play whether they are inside due to weather or outside on school grounds. 

The PTA is proposing an Excess Spending Request of $2,000 to provide supplies to benefit each grade level. We will be voting on this addition to our budget at the General PTA Meeting on November 11, 2025.

Thank you to those who signed up for an After School Enrichment class!  Classes begin THIS WEDNESDAY- Oct 15th and will continue every Wednesday through Nov 19th.  Please plan to pick up your child at 4:10 PM. (Dismissal information was sent by the ASE chairs last week. Please pick up your child from the way you requested. Thank you!)

Our Gator Giving fundraiser celebration- RECESS EXTRAVAGANZA- will take place this week for each grade level.  PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD WEAR HIS/HER NEW GRADE LEVEL/SPONSOR TSHIRT — * K-2 wear tshirts to school this Thurs, Oct 16th and Grades 3-5 on Friday, Oct 17th.  (* 1st grade parents- we know your kids need to also wear their shirts for the zoo field trip on Friday— if you prefer, feel free to send your kids in spirit wear on Thursday.)

There will be a popsicle station during the Extravaganza rotation. You will find the name of the popsicles and ingredients list for the popsicles in Principal's Principles. If you would like to opt out your child from receiving a popsicle during the extravaganza, please email Mrs. Reeves (mailto:ckreeves@henrico.k12.ba.us). In your email, please share your child’s first and last name, grade level, and teacher.

Let’s Support Our Troops – One Snack at a Time!

Our school is partnering with the Richmond International Airport USO to collect snacks and candy for service members. These small treats can bring big smiles and a sense of home to the brave men and women serving our country. These items will be shared with service members traveling through the airport.

We are asking students, families, and staff to donate individually wrapped, non-perishable snacks and candy to show our appreciation for their service.  We will start collecting items at our HalloSTEAM event on Thurs, Oct 23 6-7:30 PM.

 Collection Dates: Oct 23-Nov 7

 Suggested Donations:

    •    Mac & cheese cups

    •    Chips

    •    Trail mix

    •    Drinks (juice boxes and other individually packaged drinks)
